Youth and Students

Together as agencies we aim to stir an interest in worldwide mission amongst young people and students. We seek to do this in a variety of ways, through organising and running our Ignition youth programme targeted at young people of secondary school age and through liaising with Christian Unions in universities and colleges throughout N Ireland.

We have had the opportunity to challenge hundreds of young people to get serious about mission following invitations to run Ignition youth nights in numerous churches throughout the province. Our programme is interactive in its style and includes presentations from all corners of the world, Biblical input and participation from young people who have themselves been involved in mission across the world. Ignition has had really positive feedback from young people and youth leaders alike who have organised inter church youth nights in their local area.

Over recent years, through our partnership with MAP members IFES Ireland, we have developed good relationships with Christian Unions in University of Ulster (Jordanstown, Coleraine, Belfast Art College), Queen’s University, Stranmillis College and Greenmount Agricultural College.

Together as agencies we are committed to supporting CU leaders and resourcing them as they help students to think through how to live missionally on campus and beyond. This can take various forms, from providing study and prayer materials for small groups and visiting CUs to presenting the challenge of mission, informing them of opportunities for service as a CU and by putting on exhibits where students can ask for advice from MAP representatives about God’s call on their lives and subsequent possibilities for service.
